EPISODE ONE
McKenna's Wonder (Pilot)
Two years have elapsed since the accident that killed Guy McKenna. McKenna Outrigger's is struggling to be viable and Jack is still mourning the loss of his son. Cassie, Guy and Brick's younger sister, runs away to Brick after an altercation with Jack. Brick brings his sister home - the first time he has come home since his brother's funeral. There is immense tension between father and son. Both men are grieving their lost relationship and blaming themselves for the death of Guy. Jack can't seem to express himself and Brick is hurt by the fact that his father so blatantly favoured his older brother. When Jack breaks his arm, Brick offers to lead the booked tour. After an argument at the last minute, Jack insists on taking the excursion himself. An accident leaves Jack stranded and with help a long way away, Brick rides out there, crawls out on a cable over a ravine and saves his father but in the process he falls. With Brick hanging over the edge of a cliff, Jack begs his son to find the strength to climb to the top. A heart warming scene follows where the words, "I need you, Son" give Brick the strength he needs to save himself. At the end, Brick decides "I'll go Jack's way for a while. See where it takes us". A wonderful episode.
EPISODE TWO
Splendor in the McKenna Grass
Brick comes up with an idea for white water rafting on the 'Monster' only to have his father reject it and one of their rivals steal the idea. Cassie is forced to 'entertain' the dull goody-two-shoes daughter of one of the guests, but all it not what it seems. Brick rekindles his relationship with his old girlfriend, but things have changed. In the end, there is an accident on the Monster and Jack and Brick race to the rescue.
EPISODE THREE
Racing in the Streets
Brick is challenged to a street race by a driver who turns out to be a big name. When the other man hits his girlfriend, she leaves him and Brick allows her to stay in one of the cabins. It turns out that the girl is one fine mechanic and improves Brick's car so that it will be a fair race. Meanwhile, on the home front, Leigh and Jack are trying to entertain a married couple who are at each other's throats the entire time. When Brick's car develops problems the night before the race, Jack helps to fix it, despite disapproving of what his son is going to do. Brick explains that he has to race the other driver just to see if he's good enough to make it on the racing circuit. The only problem is, if he wins, he will be faced with a difficult decision - stay with his family and continue to build his relationship with his father and therefore forgo his life long dream of being a racing car driver, or leave McKenna Outriggers to pursue what he believes he's always wanted. In the end, Brick choses what means the most to him.

Girl Gone
The story starts with Jack's estranged brother returning home. He has brought his daughter, Margo, with him. It is clear that Jack and brother Sam don't get along. In fact, their father favoured Jack in the same way that Jack favoured Guy. When Margo overhears one of her father's phonecalls she takes off and ends up rolling the jeep down the side of a cliff. Jack, Sam and Brick rush to the rescue. In the end, we see the family pull together.

Brick takes a second place in this episode.
EPISODE EIGHT
The Hired Hand
This episode has three story lines running. The first involves Walter. He believes he has seen bigfoot. The second revolves around Cassie who discovers a secret about the hand Jack hires to paint the barn. Feeling hemmed in by her father, Cassie runs away. The final story line looks at an old man who wants to climb Mt Thomas. Brick agrees to take him only to realize that the old man wants to go to the mountain to die. During the episode we learn Brick's feelings toward Guy - "he was my best friend."
EPISODE NINE
The Shooting
A couple of college kids get drunk and challenge Brick and Dale to a football game. Seeing the boys aren't in any condition to play, Brick and Dale refuse, but one of the boys tackles Dale and another grabs his gun. Brick and the gun wielding youth struggle and it goes off, killing one of the other boys. Brick finds himself charged with manslaughter because Dale says he didn't see who pulled the trigger.
