NEWS AND UPDATES
17th, January, 2003:
Hi!
Great news. Some time back, Eric filmed a pilot called "Everything that Rises." It was supposed
to be a series about a group of professionals who have the daunting task of investigating
and preventing travel accidents. After the tragic events of Sept. 11, it was put on hold. The pilot
has been released as a movie that will screen in the United States on Thursday Feb 6th on ABC. The
picture to the right is from the movie. If you want to check out the ABC's page on the movie, go
here.
# "Taken" screened in December in the USA and received a good response. I have heard that
it will be released on DVD shortly.
# "Without a Trace" is still doing really well in the ratings. Finger's crossed it is picked up next
year. Good news for Aussie fans. Channel Nine is showing full length adds for it, though there's
still no date for the premier.
# Interested in seeing "The Magnificent Seven" series on DVD? Drop in here.
# At the end of December, I posted my Eric Close, Vin Tanner and Mag 7 calendars. You will find them here
# I went on a collage binge recently. (g). I have added about 24 new ones to my collage pages.
Most are of Eric as Vin, though there are some general collages of him which I used in the calendar.
I am hoping to add these to my collage page for EC in the next few days. You will find the collages
That's it for now.
Take care,
Brigitta.

14th December, 2002:
Hi!
# My goodness! It has been a while. Real life has been sooooo busy... but I'm back. (g)
# So, what's new?
1. "Without A Trace" is a fantastic show and is doing better than anyone prodicted in it's timeslot opposite "ER". The ratings have been very encouraging and reports are that CBS is very pleased... which is wonderful. No news yet if the show will be picked up for a second season. Fingers crossed.
2. "Without A Trace" has been picked up in Australia and should be screened next year. Yayyyy! As soon as it is, I will be able to expand my WAT page with some screen grabs of my own.
|
3. Eric is in the January 2003 issue of the magazine "Esquire". The pic opposite is from the article.
4. Site News: I have been doing some restructuring. I have added a new links panel so that you can access every page from every other page. Unfortunately, that meant that the pic links had to go because they take up so much room. In October, I added a "Media" page. Here you will find promotional pictures, screen grabs, sound grabs and video capture. Some parts are still under construction.
* Promotional Pictures - So far, I have completed "McKenna", "Mag 7", "Sisters" and Eric's movies.
* Screen Grabs - I have some from "Now and Again", "Mag 7", "Sisters", a number of Eric's movies and pictures from some of the television interviews he's done.
* Video Capture - coming soon... I promise.
* Sound Grabs - So far, I have some from "Mag 7" and EC's movie "Hercules."
* Just click on the Media button at the bottom of any page to be taken to these areas.
* I've also done some restructuring of my "Mag 7" site. Drop in and have a look. The links panel is at the bottom of the page.
5. So, what's on the agenda for the next few weeks? I am going to be updating my WAT page with the rest of the interviews I have, add episode summaries (taken from others as I haven't seen the series yet), finish off the promo pictures page, add the "Movie" page which will outline each of the movies EC has been in, design my calendar, add sounds and video capture from everything... oh, and there are also all of the screen grabs to do from all of the series! (g)
Well, that's it for now. I have four weeks holidays and I intend doing some work on my page and find some time to do some writing!
Take care, all
Brigitta.

6th August, 2002:
Hi!
# First up today, an article about Eric. It includes a new pic of his character Martin that I haven't seen before. You will find the article
here.
# A friend (Joy) sent me the address of a site that has posted a 644k picture of the cast from "Without a Trace". It is amazing. Click here to go to the page. Believe me, it is well worth it.
# Last thing: for those of you who love to look at Eric (yeah, that's all of us), Joy has captured some fantastic shots from "McKenna". Nancy is hosting them on here Close-Up page. For those of you who haven't got it book marked (believe me you should!), Click here to be taken to the "McKenna" page. Take the time to look at all of the other pics... but I warn you, make sure you have plenty of time! You won't get away in a hurry. (g)
# Well, that's it for now. I'm counting the days down. Catch you soon. Brigitta.

26th July, 2002:
Hi!
# Great news. "Without a Trace" will premier on the 26th of September which is exactly two months from now. Fingers and toes crossed that it will be a success.
# Some Mag 7 fans went to see Eric's movie "Liberty, Maine" which was shown at the Maine International Film
Festival in Waterville, Maine on July 20th. The following is a summary of what one of the girls thought - this was posted on the "Eric Close List". I hope no one minds me posting it here. Please let me know if you'd like me to take it down.
|
Well, it ended up being four of us in the audience for Liberty, Maine, an
independent film starring our beautiful Eric: Tidia and Marnie from
Massachussets, Carla from New Hampshire and me from Portland all made the
trip to Waterville Maine for the Maine International Film Festival.
It wasn't the kind of movie I normally enjoy - lots of exploring of
relationships going on - but geez, Eric was so danged versatile in it, and it
was so much fun seeing him display such a wide range of emotions - anger,
joy, frustration, sadness, angst... he was even downright snotty in a couple
of scenes. The man is wonderful at delivering sarcasm. LOL
The film was about a young man whose fiance persuades him to patch things up
with his estranged father whom he hasn't seen in 8 years. The ending is
bittersweet, but the movie is about personal growth and accepting people who
care about you even though they may not be perfect. Like I said, a little too
deep for someone like me who only needs a few good explosions and maybe a
robot or two. LOL
Eric looked great, and we had many wonderful scenes of him doing fun and
interesting things like weilding a welder's torch and wearing a tool belt.
Did I mention he also looks good in any thing? I must shamelessly admit that
I was a bit disappointed that we didn't get a nice shirtless scene,
especially since he filmed this directly after Now and Again, so he still has
that chiseled thing going on for him. My, my, my. His hair was short
. And I swear, there was one spot where he said "yeah" and he said it exactly
the way Vin did in Achilles when Mary asked him if his poem looked okay. <
sigh> Not too many other Vin moments, though. His character was a real estate
developer, so not to much in common with our scruffy bounty hunter.
There was a Q&A after with the director/writer/producer, Josiah Emerson, and
Carla asked him how Eric came to be involved in the project. Surprisingly,
while he said nice things about Eric, he seemed to be totally oblivious to
the rest of Eric's acting resume, and explained it was all done through
Eric's agent. He obviously didn't appreciate how lucky he was to get him! LOL
Most of it was filmed on location rather than on sets or a sound stage.
Josiah mentioned paying for the use of a privat home and the surrounding
property, and all four of us agreed that had he asked US, we would have paid
HIM to have Eric in our house!
Eric was in almost every scene, so it was a real feast for us. Alas, Josiah
said there are no plans for it to be distributed to theaters or released on
VHS/DVD any time soon, although he did feel it was possible it would show up
on one of the cable networks eventually. (And if the director being named
"Josiah" wasn't enough of an "M7 Moment" there was also a character in the
movie named "JD" )
Of course, Marnie summed up the entire experience when, at the end of the
film, I asked her if that was her kind of movie, to which she replied "Any
movie with Eric is my kind of movie." Amen to that!
We had fun, we saw our boy. It was a terrific afternoon! |
# Here is another piece of interesting information posted on the Eric Close List - a great list for finding out about Eric.
This is part of a larger article on the new fall shows on CBS in today's St.
Louis Post-Dispatch |
Close encounters of the CBS kind:
Eric Close plays a member, of LaPaglia's FBI team in "Without a Trace," and
the show's theme hit too close recently during a trip to Wichita, Kan. In a
store with his 15-month-old daughter, Close reached for something on a high
shelf, "and when I turned around, she was gone." The terrifying moment,
which included locking down the store, ended happily; the baby had just
wandered away and was found after a few minutes. But "it really brought home
how important the job is that these people do," Close says.
Close says he still hears, "constantly" from those who mourn his last show,
the CBS fantasy "Now & Again," which left viewers hanging when producers
refused to write a finale. He, however, has moved on. "Hey, it was
brilliant," he says, "but it didn't last. And it had its chance." |
# Well, that's all the news I've heard. Let me know if you've heard anything.
Take care, Brigitta.

16th June, 2002:
Hi!
# Lots of great news around about Eric at the moment. First, apparently he has signed
up to do four more installments of TLC's Amazing
Treasures. He's a busy actor at the moment which is fantastic news.
# The The CBS Offical Site
has added a video promo of "Without a Trace." I haven't been able to get
it to work. I hope you have more luck.
# Finally, I have added a new section to my page - Interviews & Articles. It lists the interviews and articles
that Eric Close has done and provides links to those I have been able to find. At the moment the page is under
construction, but I have six articles posted already. Special thanks to Meg over at TKtv: Now and Again who
allowed me to copy the articles.
Well, that's all, for the moment. As each month passes we move closer to October and the premier of "Without a Trace"! I can't wait... even though it may
be a while before it arrives Down Under. I'm looking forward to listening to the chats on the "Vanished" list.
Have a great day
Brigitta

18th May, 2002:
Hi!
Well, there is certainly a buzz around about "Without A Trace". I have created a page dedicated
to the show. At the moment, it only contains a summary, two pics and some links to sites that have
information about the show. Click here
to be take to the page.
|
I'm on the hunt for a copy of the pilot script. Apparently it was available but has disappeared.
There is a rumour that there have been changes to the original one... most notably that Eric's character
Martin may get hurt. Let's hope there is more of a focus on his character than first reported.
|
"Taken":
The SciFi site has a page dedicated to Eric Close's new mini series, "Taken". The picture on the left is from the show. Click on it to be taken to the site.
The site contains a summary of the story, cast list, a message from Speilberg, interesting facts, image gallery and press information.

16th May, 2002:
Hi!
It's official! "Without a Trace has been picked up! Yayyyyyyyyyyy!
|
I have taken the following information for the Vixen's List - I believe I need to credit Stacie for finding out this information... thanks, Stacie!
WITHOUT A TRACE (Thursday, 10:00-11:00 PM) stars Anthony LaPaglia
("Murder One"), Enrique Murciano ("Black Hawk Down"), Poppy Montgomery
("Blonde"), Marianne Jean-Baptiste ("Spy Game") and Eric Close ("Now
and Again") in a fast-paced procedural drama about the Missing Persons
Squad of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
The special FBI task
force's sole responsibility is to find missing persons by applying
advanced psychological profiling that will peel back the layers of the
victims' lives to trace their whereabouts -- and discover whether
they've been abducted, are missing by choice, were murdered or
committed suicide. The team reconstructs a DOD (Day of Disappearance)
timeline that details every minute of the 24 hours prior to the
victim's disappearance, following one simple rule: learn who the
victim is in order to learn where the victim is.
Senior agent Jack Malone (LaPaglia) heads the dedicated team that
knows too well that every second counts when someone vanishes. His
team: Samantha Spade (Montgomery), an agent who doesn't let her
good looks get in the way of being tough; Vivian Johnson
(Jean-Baptiste), a no-nonsense investigator; Danny Taylor (Murciano),
who is intense and private, and Martin Fitzgerald (Close), the newest
member of the team and considered a lightweight because his only
experience involves fighting white collar crime. Jerry Bruckheimer
("CSI: Crime Scene Investigation," "Black Hawk Down"), Jonathan
Littman ("CSI"), Ed Redlich ("The Practice"), David Nutter ("Band of
Brothers") and Hank Steinberg ("61*") are executive producers
for Jerry Bruckheimer Television in association with Warner Bros.
Television and CBS Productions.
This is fantastic news. Apparently, Eric doesn't have a big showing in the pilot
episode. Let's hope he gets good air time in the rest of the series!

6th May, 2002:
Hi!
This is all just gossip, but I can't help getting excited by it! TVtome has updated their page
and it now has the new name "Without a Trace." EC is at the top of the casting list... never mind that
alphabetically his name comes first. (g) If you want to have a look see, click here.
As well, Futon Critic has suggested a line-up for the new season and has listed "Without a Trace" for Thursday nights at 10pm. click here.Yes, it's just gossip. However, we
should know on the 15th if the series is going to be picked up. Crossing all body parts!

30th April, 2002:
Hi!
The latest news on the "Vanished"
list is that CBS should announce their lineup for
the 2002-2003 season on May 15. The girl who sent the message mentioned that word could
leak out
before then, but hopefully we
should know by the middle of May if the series has been picked up.
Secondly, it would appear that the name change is official. According to the list, a show
called "Vanished" already exists,
so it looks like the series (let us pray it is a series and not just a pilot) will be called
"Without a Trace."
Keep your fingers and toes crossed. Mine are! (g) |
20th April, 2002:
Hi! Well, where to start?! There has been great news in the last few weeks. Eric has
been cast in a new television series that is a spin off of CSI - or at least, it is going to be the same director - Bruckheimer.
Eric is part of the FBI's missing persons team. The show is yet to have a title, but Vanished and Without a Trace
have both been mentioned.
You can find an outline of the new show
here. Be warned, it does describe the plot of the pilot so if you want it to be a surprise,
I wouldn't read this article. The outline does describe Eric's character, Martin Fitzgerald, which is somewhat
different to what we've seen from him. I, for one, can't wait. Of course, there are no
guarantees that the pilot will be picked up, but fingers crossed.
The show is set in New York but
apparently it is being filmed at Warner Bros. in LA. Filming started in March, so hopefully we'll be hearing more shortly.
There is a yahoo list for the show. It has about 57 members - last I looked. Come and join us. Click here.
